Curried beans with buttered rice (Microwave)

Cooking Time : 20 mins. 50 secs.

Serves 4.

Ingredients
For the beans
1 large can (450 grams) baked beans
3 onions, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic crushed
1 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
1/2 teacup tomato ketchup
2 tablespoons butter
salt to taste
For the buttered rice
1 1/2 teacups uncooked Basmati rice
2 tablespoons butter
salt to taste
Method
1. For the beans
2. Put the butter in a glass bowl and microwave on HIGH for about 20 seconds.
3. Add the onions, crushed garlic and microwave on HIGH for about 1 minute, stirring once in-between after 30 seconds.
4. Add the curry powder and chilli powder and microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds.
5. Add the baked beans, tomato ketchup and salt and microwave on HIGH for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes stirring in-between after every 30 seconds.
6. Serve hot with buttered rice.
For the buttered rice
1. Put the rice and salt in a glass bowl and add 3 teacups of water.
2. Microwave on HIGH for about 14 to 15 minutes or until cooked, stirring in-between after about 7 minutes. Each grain of the cooked rice should be separate.
3. Put the butter in another glass bowl and microwave on HIGH for about 30 seconds.
4. Add the cooked rice and mix well. Microwave on HIGH for about 30 seconds.
Tips
Serve hot.
