Wholesome deep dish pizza

Thick crusty pizza bread topped with a delicious mix of vegetable textures, surprising flavours and colourful appearance.
This pizza is baked in a deep pie dish or a deep dish. Experiment with your own topping ideas and combinations.

Cooking Time : 25 mins.
Preparation Time : 15 mins.

Makes 1 pizza.

Ingredients
1 recipe basic pizza base, page…

1/2 recipe pizza sauce, page…

butter or oil for greasing
To be mixed into a topping
11/2 cups mixed vegetables (baby corn, spring onions, olives, capsicum, mushrooms), sliced
2 teaspoons chilli flakes
2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
salt to taste
For baking
1/2 cup cooking cheese or mozzarella cheese, grated
1 tablespoon olive oil or oil
Method
1. Roll out the pizza dough into a circle of 200 mm. (8″) diameter and 8 mm. (1/3″) thickness. Line a 150 mm. (6″) greased pie dish with it.
2. Spread the pizza sauce over the base and fill with the topping.
3. Top with cheese and finally drizzle the olive oil over it.
4. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°C (360°F) for about 20 minutes or until the base is evenly browned.
5. Serve hot.
