Lauki ki kheer

You all must have enjoyed the traditional Indian kheer. Now try this traditional recipe in my healthy way to satisfy your sweet tooth. The recipe makes use of fibre rich doodhi and low fat milk and milk powder, which is easily available to all the grocery stores.

Preparation Time : 10 mins.
Cooking Time : 20 mins.

Serves 4.

1 cup bottle gourd (doodhi/lauki), grated
2 cups low fat milk
2 tablespoons skim milk powder
2 tablespoons sugar
½ teaspoon cardamom (elaichi) powder
1. Combine the bottle gourd, milk and milk powder in a non-stick pan and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes till the bottle gourd is cooked.
2. Add the sugar and cook till the sugar dissolves.
3. Add the cardamom powder, mix well and refrigerate.
4. Serve chilled.
