Soya nankhatai

A sweet treat that’s good for your heart. Soya flour has been used to give it a healthy touch as it helps in decreasing bad cholesterol (LDL) while building up good cholesterol (HDL). Make these healthy delicacies in advance and serve them to your guests too!

Baking Time : 25 to 30 mins.
Baking Temperature : 140°C (280°F).
Preparation Time : 10 mins.

Makes 20 nanakhatais.

Ingredients
½ cup soya flour
½ cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
¼ teaspoon soda bi-carb
1 tablespoon low fat curds
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
¼ teaspoon nutmeg (jaiphal) powder
¼ teaspoon cardamom (elaichi) powder
1 tablespoon softened low fat butter
1 tablespoon oil
a pinch salt
Other ingredients
1 teaspoon oil for greasing
Method
1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well using your fingertips till they resemble breadcrumbs.
2. Add approx. 2 tablespoons of cold water and knead it gently into a crumbly dough.
3. Divide into 20 equal portions. Roll into a ball and flatten between your palms.
4. Place them on a lightly greased baking tray.
5. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 140°C (280°F) for 25 to 30 minutes or till they are golden brown.
6. Cool and store in an air-tight container.
